New Programs in Wind Energy @ Amrita

Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore will begin offering two new PG Diploma Programs in Wind Energy under an MoU with Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET) and Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA).

C-WET is the apex body for wind power development in India under the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, New Delhi. IWTMA is the association of all wind electric generator manufacturers in India, who are also the global leaders.

(i) Post Graduate Diploma in Wind Power Development (PGDWPD)
Eligibility: BTech/BE with minimum 60% marks in Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics /Electronics/ Electronics & Communication/ Mechanical/ Production/ Instrumentation Engineering
Duration: 2 semesters
Number of Seats: 15
Job Potential: This PGD will serve as a significant value addition to basic engineering degrees making the graduates fit for direct employment with windfarm developers, wind mill/generator manufacturers, government and non-government agencies working in energy sector, etc.

(ii) Post Graduate Diploma in Wind Resource Assessment (PGDWRA)
Eligibility: B Tech/BE with minimum 60% marks in Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics /Electronics/ Electronics & Communication/ Mechanical/ Production/ Instrumentation Engineering or MSc with minimum 60% marks in Physics, Mathematics or Statistics
Duration: 2 semesters
Number of Seats: 15
Job Potential: There is a high demand for wind analysts globally and nationally today. Both manufacturers and windfarm developers need them.

HIGHLIGHTS

• – Support from Government and Industry – These two PGD programs are offered under an MoU with Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET) and Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA)

• – Both the programs are fully sponsored by C-WET; students admitted to these programmes need to pay only the refundable caution deposit
• – Placements – IWTMA will facilitate placement of all students who successfully complete the program, in Indian wind power industry
• – Scholarship – All students admitted in the programmes will be eligible for monthly stipend of Rs 5000, offered by IWTMA, on an undertaking to join the wind power industry
